Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right training can raise a lot of questions. To make things easier, here are answers to some of the most common queries. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Are your courses accredited?

Yes where noted — for example FAW (RQF) and Mental Health First Aid. Accreditation ensures consistent content, assessment and recognised certification.

Can existing EFAW holders upgrade to FAW?

Yes but they would need to complete the full FAW course. We’ll check current certification and advise the most efficient upgrade.

Can training be delivered on-site at our workplace?

Absolutely. On-site delivery reduces travel and allows us to tailor scenarios to your environment. You’ll just need a safe, quiet space and we’ll bring the rest.

Can we practise with our own AED model?

Absolutely. Practising with your device builds familiarity and speed in real situations.

Can you help with an action plan and staff training?

Yes — we can build a simple action plan and align training so improvements stick.

Can you tailor content to our service users?

Absolutely — we’ll weave in scenarios that reflect your context and priorities.

Do you carry out on-site assessments and provide a written report?

Yes — we inspect your premises and provide a clear, prioritised report with photos and practical next steps.

Do you cover choking and paediatric CPR?

We can include adult, child and infant protocols. Tell us your patient mix and equipment.

Do you cover common workplace hazards and signage?

Yes — ignition sources, housekeeping, compartmentation and how to read and act on signage.

Do you cover safe techniques for stairs and tight spaces?

We focus on communication, control and posture for stairs, landings and narrow corridors.

Do you include live or simulated extinguisher use?

We cover safe theory and, where appropriate, practical demonstrations or simulations.

Do you offer charity/education or multi-course discounts?

Yes. We offer fair pricing for charities and education, and value bundles for multi-course bookings. Tell us your plan and we’ll quote accordingly.

Do you run evening or weekend courses?

We can schedule outside core hours where feasible. Share your preferred times and we’ll propose options.

Do you tailor scenarios to our workplace risks?

Yes — we reference your environment and typical hazards so practice feels realistic and relevant.

Does this qualify me for specific roles (e.g. event cover)?

It can support certain roles depending on level and organiser requirements. Tell us your goal and we’ll confirm suitability.

How do I know which training course is right for me?

We’ll match your risks and legal duties to the right option, balancing budget, group size and time. A quick call is often enough to shortlist two or three good choices.

How do we support staff after the course?

We suggest simple follow-ups (toolkits, signposting and peer support) to help skills embed over time.

How many staff should be trained per chair?

We recommend at least two trained operators per chair per shift to cover absence and provide safe handling.

How often should fire wardens be re-trained?

Typically annually, or sooner if your risks, layout or staffing change. We can schedule a simple refresher.

How often should we review a fire risk assessment?

At least annually, and whenever layout, occupancy or activities change significantly.

Is the content tailored to clinical settings?

Yes — scenarios reflect primary care, including reception, consulting rooms and waiting areas.

Is the session suitable for mixed roles?

Yes — examples work across frontline, admin and management so everyone can apply the learning.

Is there a practical assessment and written exam?

Yes. Assessment blends hands-on scenarios with knowledge checks to evidence competence.

Is there a practical component using our chair model?

Yes — practice is supervised with your equipment so techniques transfer immediately.

Is this a 3-day course and can it be split over weeks?

Standard delivery is three days. We can split delivery across weeks to suit rotas while keeping learning outcomes intact.

Is this MHFA England accredited?

Accredited options are available — we’ll confirm the exact pathway and materials for your booking.

What accessibility adjustments can you provide?

We plan adjustments in advance — from room layout to materials and delivery pace. Let us know any requirements so every delegate can take part confidently.

What are a fire warden’s main responsibilities?

Routine prevention checks, supporting evacuations, and helping with drills and procedures. We cover practical steps and confidence-building.

What topics are covered?

Respectful language, communication approaches and reasonable adjustments that remove barriers in day-to-day interactions.

What’s the difference between EFAW and FAW?

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is a focused 1-day course covering essential life-saving skills and common workplace incidents. First Aid at Work (FAW) goes deeper over 3 days, adding further topics and extended practice.

What’s the difference between the 1-day and 2-day versions?

The 2-day pathway offers deeper practice, more scenarios and additional resources. We’ll help you choose based on outcomes and time.

Who should attend this vs Fire Warden?

Awareness is for all staff to reduce risk and respond safely. Fire Warden is for nominated wardens with extra duties.

Will staff learn when and how to use an extinguisher?

We teach the PASS technique and, crucially, when not to use an extinguisher to keep people safe.

Will we receive certificates and how long do they last?

Yes. Certificates are issued for successful delegates. Validity depends on the course (e.g. FAW usually three years). We’ll remind you about refreshers on request.
